I had an amazing, colorful dream about being in an amusement park with friends. I was putting my gift of insight into exercise, making witty observations about the strange nature of the world around us. It was as if my sense of humor was evolving into a superpower: Not only could I pick just the right poetic words to strike my jokes, but I could anticipate the verbal pictures that others wished they could communicate. In one such case I remember laughing with an eight-year-old boy about The Incredible Hulk looking like "a slimey putty-head" in just the words the boy was seeking. I went on to other creative endevors, expressing my "alien insight" in costuming and illustration... and THEN IT GOT WEIRD. Suddenly, I had the ability to say "I should write that down," and reach over beside my bed to this same dream journal in which I record these very dreams you the reader are reading! There was no loss of time as the dream around me continued running full pace. Somehow, the bridge of dream and reality was fulfilled. But when I woke, none of the transcription had really happened. |
