Media Rivers

It became clear to me that the production of media and content (songs, movies, software, etc.) is a lot like irrigation management. A desertous world experiences a lot of flashfloods where meaningful content will never "sink in." A more stable world would have regular series which keep things fertile and dependable... but in this world, it's feast or famine.
